Cookie Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Ceylon Chat ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on ceylonchat.com and its related apps (the "Service"), and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device through your browser. They can be used to remember information about your visit, such as whether you're logged in, or to help a site function correctly.

2. Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are required for the Service to work and cannot be switched off. We currently set:

Both cookies are set as HttpOnly (not readable by page scripts) and, on our production site, Secure (sent only over HTTPS). Because they are strictly necessary for account security and login, they are set automatically and do not require separate consent under most cookie laws.

3. Functional Cookies

If you dismiss the cookie notice banner on our site, we set a small cookie (ceylon_cookie_notice) so we don't show it to you again on that browser. This cookie stores no personal information.

4. Analytics and Advertising Cookies

As of the date above, Ceylon Chat does not run any analytics or advertising tracking scripts and does not set analytics or ad-tracking cookies. If that changes in the future — for example, if we add an analytics tool — we will update this Cookie Policy and, where required, ask for your consent before setting those cookies.

5. Third-Party Cookies (Social Login)

If you choose to sign in or register using Google or Facebook, those providers may set their own cookies on your device as part of the login redirect process, before you're returned to Ceylon Chat. Those cookies are controlled by Google and Facebook, not by us, and are subject to their own cookie and privacy policies.

6. How to Control Cookies

Most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies through their settings, usually found under "Privacy" or "Site settings" in the browser menu. If you block or delete the ceylon_session cookie, you will be logged out and will need to log back in; blocking it entirely will prevent you from staying logged in to Ceylon Chat.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time, including if we introduce analytics or advertising cookies. We will post the updated version on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
