Write, choose the audience, add anything extra, and post.
  1. 1Go to Feed. The box at the top says What's on your mind?
  2. 2Type your message. There is no length limit — write as much as you need.
  3. 3Choose the audience from the dropdown next to the Post button.
  4. 4Add a photo, a poll, a feeling or a location if you want to.
  5. 5Tap Post. It appears at the top of the feed straight away.

Who sees your post

Public
Anyone on Ceylon Chat, and the post can show up in search
Friends
Only people you are friends with. Followers who are not friends cannot see it.
Only me
Nobody but you — useful for drafts and notes to yourself
Custom list
Only the people on a list you build

Posting to a custom list

  1. 1Choose Custom list… from the audience dropdown.
  2. 2Your browser asks which list to use — type a name for a new list, or the name of one you already made.
  3. 3For a new list, type the usernames to include, separated by commas — for example priya, nuwan, amal.
  4. 4Finish posting as normal. Only those people will see it.
People you have blocked never see your posts, whichever audience you pick.

Adding photos

  1. 1Tap Photo for a single picture, or Add Photos to attach several at once.
  2. 2Wait for each picture to finish uploading before you tap Post.
  3. 3Pictures must be JPG, PNG, WEBP or GIF, and each one under 8 MB.

Polls, hashtags, tags and feelings

Polls
Tap Poll and add between 2 and 4 options. A poll can only be added while you are writing the post, not afterwards. People can change their vote at any time.
Hashtags
Just type # in front of a word, like #Colombo. It becomes a link that shows other public posts using the same tag.
Tagging people
Type usernames in the Tag people box, separated by commas. This is a label on your post, not an invitation, and it does not notify them.
Tagging a face in a photo
Tap a photo after posting to tag someone in it. They are notified, and either of you can remove that tag.
Feeling and check-in
Optional labels that appear under your name.

Reactions, comments and sharing

Reactions
One heart — tap it to like a post, tap again to undo
Comments
Anyone who can see the post can comment. You can delete your own comments, and you can delete any comment on your own post — tap Delete under it. Comments still cannot be edited, so read yours before sending.
Sharing
Share puts the post on your own feed with an optional caption. A shared post is always Public.
Saving
Save keeps a post in your Saved page for later. Only you see what you saved.

Editing and deleting

  1. 1Tap the ••• menu on your own post.
  2. 2Edit changes the words only — photos, polls, tags and the audience are fixed once posted.
  3. 3Delete removes the post for everyone, permanently.

Stories

A story is a single picture that sits at the top of the feed and disappears after 24 hours. Tap the + at the start of the story row, choose a picture, and it is posted. Stories are visible to every signed-in member, and there is no way to delete one early — it clears itself after a day.
