Make your account private
- 1Go to Settings, then Privacy.
- 2Turn on Private account.
- 3From then on, anyone who wants to follow you has to ask first. Requests appear on your Friends page under Follow requests, with Accept and Decline.
- 4People already following you stay — remove any you don't want from your followers list.
What private changes
- New followers
- Have to be approved by you
- Search engines
- Your profile is kept out of Google and out of link previews
- Friends-only posts
- Still only visible to friends, private or not
- Public posts
- Still public — set the audience per post if you want them narrower
Who can send you friend requests
- 1Go to Settings, then Friend requests.
- 2Choose Everyone, Friends of friends, or No one.
- 3The change applies immediately to new requests. Requests already sent to you stay in your list.
Blocking someone
- 1Open their profile.
- 2Tap Block, and confirm.
- 3To undo it later, open Settings, then Blocked users, and tap Unblock.
What blocking does
- Messages
- Neither of you can message the other
- Friend requests
- Blocked in both directions
- Posts
- Their posts disappear from your feed, and yours from theirs
- Search
- You stop appearing in each other's search results
Choosing who sees each post
Privacy on Ceylon Chat is set per post rather than for your whole account. When you write a post you pick the audience — Public, Friends, Only me, or a custom list of people. See Posting for exactly who each option reaches.
What everyone can see
- Your name, username and photos
- Visible to anyone who opens your profile
- Your About details
- Visible to anyone who opens your profile — leave a field empty if you would rather keep it private
- Public posts
- Visible to anyone, and they can appear in search
- Friends and Only me posts
- Never appear in search results, even for people allowed to see them
- That you viewed a profile
- The owner of that profile can see your name in their Profile viewers list
Mute currently only stops someone being suggested to you as a person you may know. It does not hide their posts. Use Unfollow or Block if you want to stop seeing someone.
